It’s almost summertime. Hooray! What are you planning to do? Are you planning to take a nice long break of doing nothing or as close to nothing as possible? Or are you planning to do something creative and productive with your time? Sure, taking a break is essential to stay energized and productive in the long run, but also taking time to improve yourself can be good, seeing the time you have during summer doing something that helps you improve yourself, in the long run can be good. It can expand your opportunities and lead to self contentedness. Being able to say that you put something to your mind and completed it is something surprisingly only few can say.
Here are a few productive things that you can do during the summer that can help you improve, either school-wise or to just be personally healthy and fit.
So to begin, what do you want to get better at? Do you want to have better grades at school? Do you want to be more fit to feel or better or to be better for next year’s sports? There are lots of things you can choose to do. Though surprisingly, taking the first step isn’t the hardest. The most difficult part of it is keeping that daily routine.
For example if you wanted to take daily walks, it might be easy for the first couple of days, but keeping and maintaining that daily walk can be hard. Making it a part of your routine can be difficult. It is keeping that walk even if you don’t feel like it that day. Of course there are times where there are exceptions, like if you were to break your leg. Just remember that it is important to try your hardest to keep it.
The next important step is to keep achievable goals. So let’s say that your goal is to lose 30 pounds. Is it achievable? Yes of course it is! Though keeping a realistic goal is always important. People often set a goal that is hard, but achievable, and give up because they can’t do it the first few times. When one climbs a mountain, one doesn’t look at the peak of the mountain and gives up after a few steps of climbing the mountain. You keep a goal of just taking one more step, and before you realize it, you will be at the top of a mountain.
This goes with anything that you would like to accomplish and improve in. Whether it’s playing piano, getting better grades, or being better at basketball, it’s all about keeping that motivation. Instead of saying I want to be the best at basketball, say, I want to make two more hoops, or I want to jump a little bit higher than yesterday. It’s about keeping and maintaining. Also remember that you should always pace yourself with this and not push yourself too hard. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Don’t strain yourself at the gym by trying on the heaviest weight at the bench press. Keeping a measure of what you can and can’t do is essential.
