This season of cross-country was all about breaking records.
On September 27, the cross-country team competed against seven other teams and Grady Hellman ran a 17.28 mile at Sweitzer Lake.
“It was pretty good. I think most people ran pretty fast, and it was a good race,” Hellman said.
Before the 27th Hellman’s personal best was a 17.45 minute race. He wasn’t the only one who thought it was a success.
Paige Kehmeier, a runner for the girls, thought it was a great race for the whole team.
“I think, well, quite a few people PRd. I think three or four of us did. So that was pretty good, and we all finished in the top half of it. So it was good.”
Kehmeier old Pr was 19.8 but, she beat that at Switzer Lake, getting 19.07. Kehmeier believes that at this rate she will make it to state.
Coach Maykayla Schmalz is confident that it was a great meet for all her runners.
“It was really good. We had a lot of PRs. Grady was right there at his personal best,” said Schmalz.
