Each year FFA organizes a traditional auction and oyster fry. On Wednesday, October 30, twenty-four groups of FFA members were sold to the highest bidder for eight hours of labor. The Delta community raised $7,725.
“I bought three girls for three hundred dollars,” said math teacher Renee Cronenberg. “It’s been about ten years since I bought students; to help on the farm and support FFA at the same time,” Cronenberg said.
The money raised will be used “to pay for trips such as CDE and LDE and for class projects and events,” said Paige Kehmeier, president of FFA.
This event also pleases people. “It’s a great organization with a large following in the community,” Hatch said.
