Every single day we see faces in the hallway but it’s not often we really know who’s behind the face. All of these people we meet have hidden talents and lives that we don’t know about. One of these faces is Naveah Huff, a Junior at Delta High School, a working student and most importantly, an artist.
Huff began her art journey when she was little, just drawing to draw or to pass time. Huff continued into middle school, though not quite enjoying the class. Huff still continued to draw at her home rather than in a classroom. Huff said that this is really when she got into art.
As for Huff’s creative process, she said she likes to have an idea of what she’s making first, particularly in art teacher Pablo Payan’s class, where he will give the artists a medium to use. Huff said she uses this as inspiration, using the general picture of the media as a basis for her art: for example, if she uses watercolors, her art may be water-themed. Other times she may just draw whatever pops in her head.
Though Huff would like to be a tattoo artist later in life, right now she just draws for fun. She doesn’t quite put her art out, but she does give her art to family and friends as a more sentimental gift. Rather than custom-making it, Huff said she will first draw something and then think “Oh, this reminds me of this person, so then I’ll just go give it to them.”
