Introducing your 2025 Mr. Panther winner: Landon Spaedt. Spaedt put lots of time and effort into his performance and ultimately won.
The Mr. Panther assembly has many different challenges, but the senior boys wanted it to be unique this year. They participated in walk-outs while wearing dresses, karaoke with another one of the boys, a hot dog eating contest, and a western-themed skit.
Spaedt found ways to prepare, from practicing his lines to finding a dress to wear for his walk-out. Overall, he played fairly but was very confident in his ability to win.
“I knew I had it in the bag,” Spaedt said.
Spaedt also had to practice for all parts of the assembly. The student council excused all of the Mr. Panther candidates from their classes to practice for the Mr. Panther assembly. They practiced walkouts, karaoke, and the western skit. The only thing they didn’t practice was the hot dog eating contest.
The first event of the assembly was the walkouts. Many people said Spaedt’s walkout was the funniest. He wore a granny dress along with a wig and a cane. He walked out to the song “The Way You Move” by Outkast and Sleepy brown. “I chose to do my walkout differently simply because I wanted to be different from the others,” Spaedt said.
The next event in the assembly was the karaoke contest. All the Mr. Panther candidates partnered up with one another and Spaedt partnered with Jordan Fraser. This duo sang “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood.
Next, the boys competed in a hot dog eating contest. This wasn’t a traditional hot dog eating contest; though, all duos that sang karaoke together also had to eat ten hot dogs. The rules didn’t say whether both partners ate five or one ate all the hot dogs, they just had to eat ten in total.
While Spaedt and Fraser nearly caught the win in hot dog eating, Ripp Lockhart and Davion Lopez swept it away, eating the ten hot dogs faster.
For the last event in this assembly, the boys acted out a western skit. They had a set complete with props that Paige Kehmeier helped create. Spaedt acted as a sheriff, riding into the scene on a stick dinosaur. “I worked with Ripp (Lockhart), Jordan (Fraser), Landon Horn, DLO (Davion Lopez), Ty (Reed), [and the] senior StuCo class,” Spaedt said.
Spaedt put in lots of work to secure the win as the 2025 Mr. Panther. He was very proud and felt accomplished in his win. “A wise man once told me [that] an apple a day keeps the doctor away. If you throw it hard enough…let that sink in,” Spaedt said.
