Delta High School students are filled with curiosity and creativity. In Pablo Payan’s art class, students let their creativity flow onto paper or into digital work.
Jasmin Saenz is a student who loves art and has been drawing for as long as she can remember. “I’ve been doing art for who knows for how long? I think it’s probably first grade, I would say,” Saenz said.
Saenz does most of her artwork online, creating digital content. “I have done variations of different projects and different styles, but I mostly focus on digital art,” Saenz said.
Art can let people express themselves and show how they feel. It can be considered a hobby, but some people consider it their passion. “I like to do it for fun, and I just really like art.”
There are pros and cons of traditional drawing with a pencil and paper. There is the satisfaction of creating something physical, and it can also develop muscle memory through repetitive motor skills. However, there are some cons to drawing traditionally. There are irreversible mistakes, and when you erase on the paper, there are still marks left on the paper. That’s why some people prefer to make digital art instead.
“I find it more simple than traditional art. I feel like for me it’s easier to add different elements. And I’m able to undo things easily instead of erasing the whole paper,” Saenz said.
