Technology Instructor Scott Siettmann is digging into some food since DHS students’ parents bring in Subway for teacher appreciation week.
Since Teacher Appreciation Week is here, who’s a teacher you appreciate? If you go to the “Delta Home Page” you can fill out a form on which teacher(s) you’re appreciating. Teacher Appreciation Week is for appreciating your teachers for what they’ve done, such as helping you with personal stuff or helping you in general.
On the first day of May, the student council brought and made treats for teachers and staff in the lounge. For Teacher Appreciation Week, the principal always does something nice for teachers.
Principal Roseann Johnson said, “This Wednesday, our parent group is going to do a big lunch for all the teachers, the district office brought donuts and gave all the teachers mugs with Delta County School District on it.” Principal Johnson said she gives a big thank you to everybody, meaning not just teachers but staff members as well.
Principal Johnson said the district and she prefer to call it Staff Appreciation Week instead of Teacher Appreciation Week because everybody in the building has a role in what they do and making sure DHS runs like it should.
“…Remembering to thank everybody that does what they do here because everybody is so important. It’s a big building with a lot of people who have a lot of needs, so we all have to work together to make sure everything gets taken care of,” Johnson said. But what do some students do for staff members for teacher appreciation week? Freshman Kinley Johnson said, “giving some nice affirmations to teachers about their hard work they’ve done for us.” Whos a staff member Kinley Johnson thanks for teacher appreciation week? What’s her response for what students should do for staff?
Johnson thinks appreciating teachers would be great if students just thanked them for what they’ve done. Kinley Johnson said a teacher she appreciated was Mrs.Schmalz. Mykayla Schmalz is a science teacher at DHS, “..she helps me when I need help and she explains things pretty well, and she’s a good teacher. She does what she’s talking about and she’s considerate,” said Johnson.
