Schools and their rules should not be the way they are. Schools nationwide determine whether you can graduate by your grades. However, why is that a standard for schools? Why do you get judged by what your grade is? In my opinion, schools should not determine where you stand just because of your grades. In order to graduate from Delta High School you need twenty-five credits to graduate, which means you need to pass with at least a D in all of your classes for both semesters to graduate through all four years of high school.
Math. Why do we have to do math for three years in high school? The majority of students including myself believe we need a more real world math class. We do not use most math out in the world besides multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction, so why do we need to learn more math? I understand some jobs use more complicated math situations, so make math an elective for those who want to pursue a career that needs more complex math. Math is one of the most useless classes ever in school.
In my personal opinion, we need to replace math with a class on how to pay bills and taxes ect. Bills and taxes is something everyone needs to understand, so to me it makes sense that it would be a core class. It is math!. When most kids get out into the real world they are confused on how to pay bills and taxes. Why is math a required class when schools teach us nothing about the real world?
Every single day, someone is worrying about a test or an assignment they forgot to do or turn in, which in turn is causing stress and anxiety about their grades. I understand teachers wanting to see what you understand in class and what you don’t by grades, but grades still should not define whether you are smart, whether you can graduate, or whether or not you succeed. Schools often define who you are just by your grades. Well I do understand grades show responsibility and people are willing to be consistent with showing grit, there is no way it can show a students worth.
English. In my opinion, English classes we don’t need to take it all four years. So why must we? After a certain point in time it is just a repetitive class that is teaching the same material over and over again only with different books. I feel English should be taught for only 2 or 3 years of high school.
This is just my personal opinion on school. While I could go on for hours upon hours of ranting about how the school’s systems are terrible I won’t.
