The Lady Panthers congratulate each other on a point scored. The ladies won against Hotchkiss for varsity volleyball at Delta High on Sept 25.

The Delta Panthers varsity volleyball team won three sets out of five against Hotchkiss on Sept 25 at Delta. All three games were close with only a few points between both teams.

Delta senior Madi Gieck managed to achieve six kills. Throughout the season Gieck has racked up a total of 31 kills helping push Delta to an 8-4 standing.

“Shows that we are the real deal, and we can beat teams,” Gieck said.

While the seniors were definitely a force to be reckoned with, freshman, Ellie Ames, gave her opponents a run for their money. Ames has been able to achieve a hitting percentage of .200.

“I see a really good future …we’re really young so I only see improvement from now,” Ames said.

The current varsity team consists of one freshmen, six sophomores, two juniors, and five seniors.

Coach Beth Nelson said, “They are figuring out how to work hard as a team.”
