Prom typically is considered as the most important night in high school. Prom has been a tradition that has been happening for many years. Prom takes a lot of time, money, and effort. 

The theme of prom was announced by Mrs. Johnson during the “Mr. Panther Assembly”. The theme is Pandora: A world Beyond. This theme will consist of enchanting, magical decor. Some consider this theme as good and some have expressed their dislike of this theme. Prom will be held at Longhorn and Laces – a new wedding venue. Prom was held at the same place last year and it was very nice. 

There are some disagreements on whether or not the theme is a good one.

Brooke Smith wishes “there would have been voting on deciding the theme”. Smith then says “The theme is not awful but it is not the best”.

To see what planning prom looks like, I talked with a few members of the planning committee in STUCO. The Tree of Souls is an important part of the movies, so it will definitely help to bring the theme to life. The waterfall and the plant life will also help to build the world of Pandora, which is where the Avatar movies are based. 

“The biggest hurdle that we faced during the planning process was coming up with an idea for the Grand March. We had actually picked out another theme, but we were really struggling with what to do, so we switched to the Avatar theme and finally came up with some good ideas,” Danika Queen said.

Prom requires a lot of preparation and time.  A ticket for a single person is $25 and for couples it’s $35. Prom will be held at Longhorn and Laces – a new wedding venue. Prom was held at the same place last year, as it was posted on the Delta High School instagram.
