Now that summer is approaching, and the weather is getting warmer, it’s very common to bring out your summer clothes. No one wants to spend their whole school day sweating in a packed classroom while doing their work or if they’re going outside for projects, so it’s nice to feel comfortable in what you’re wearing.
A common problem though, is remembering to follow the school’s dress code. The hot weather is uncomfortable in a room with a lot of students, so they will want to wear cool and comfortable clothes.
Dress code is a common thing across all schools. It helps keep the school a more safe, focused, disciplined, and a more equitable learning environment.
The dress code was also meant to help make a more professional environment to help prepare them for their future, but it is also common for students to get pressured into wearing certain things because of new trends.
Remember that the school dress code includes no spaghetti strap tank tops, all shorts and skirts must be at fingertip length, no advertising of drugs/weapons/alcohol/violence, no sleepwear, and no exposure of an excessive amount of skin.
Although these rules are posted in posters throughout the whole school, still not many students follow it correctly, but principal Johnson also claims that “according to the DCSD dress code we are too lenient. We allow students to wear things that would be considered out of dress code”.
Overall, it is important to make sure that you are making sure you are showing up to school dressed appropriately and ready to learn!
