DHS art classes Design andIllustration and Graphic Design Two have been working really hard on a new mural.
The mural is being painted around the cafeteria bathrooms. Around 12 or more art students are participating and helping with the mural.
One of those students is Maya Goettling. “One of my favorite parts about working on the mural is that I get to paint while at the same time get to talk with my friends,” said Goettling.
Goettling is one of the few sophomores working on this mural. One of the things that stands out the most about this mural is that the students were able to draw leaves on the ceiling.
“ We had to use a VR headset to be able to draw the leaves on the ceiling,” said Goettling.
“We wanted something specific to Delta Panthers without it being the same usual ideas. Something not too hard or too easy,” said Pable Payan, DHS art teacher.
Although the mural looks almost done, there are still a couple of things that need to be touched up. “The mural will be finished in August of this year,” said Payan.
“I hate how people come up to us while we are painting and ask us non-sense questions ‘what type of leaves are those?’ or ‘what color is that?’’” said Goetling. There are definitely harsh moments like that, but there are always more good moments.
The school year has come to an end and although this mural might not be fully done yet, it will be waiting for us to admire its greatness next year.
